As a member of CAN-UK you become a member of the world’s largest climate network made up of more than 2,000 civil society organisations in over 130 countries, driving collective and sustainable action to fight the climate crisis and bring about the transformational change in our societies and economies that ensures equity and justice; poverty eradication; sustainable livelihoods; and the protection of the rights of nature.

CAN-UK works to influence the UK’s international policies at the nexus of poverty-nature-climate. CAN-UK works through thematic working groups to set the policy agenda on these issues in the UK, and regularly coordinates letters and policy platforms that go into the Prime Minister, Secretaries of State, and officials. By joining CAN-UK, you can help influence these policy areas and elevate your voice on these issues.

CAN-UK maintains a critical-friend and expert stakeholder relationship with officials across relevant UK government departments (particularly DESNZ, FCDO, DEFRA, and HMT) and organises regular meetings with relevant officials and ministers.

CAN-UK has a diverse membership with a range of expertise and experience, and is a network where organisations come together to share learning and support each other’s work and priorities. Access to working groups will keep you informed on the latest policy developments.

By bringing together international development, humanitarian, environment, and rights organisations, CAN-UK has a unique voice calling for policies and investments that work for people, nature, and climate.
